  • Within a few minutes you should receive an e-mail with instructions for administering your Belbin.
  • You will need to enter your email address into the box to be sent the link to complete your Belbin. (This is also the page to pull your report from if 6 observers do not respond)
  • Read the welcome screen and click ‘Next’.
  • The Introduction section has three screens. Read each and click ‘Next’.
  • The ‘Self Perception’ section has 11 screens, and you can track your progress by looking at the upper right corner of the screen. On page 1, enter your personal details and click ‘Next’.
  • Complete the sections 2-9 of the Self-Perception Inventory. Click ‘Next’ after each section.
  • Section 10 is a review and error checking screen. Click ‘Submit’ once you are satisfied.
  • On the last screen, Section 11, please click the link ‘your individual status page’. This will take you to a page where you can request observers’ feedback. SEE STEP 2 BELOW

***IMPORTANT***

You will be sent an email confirming the receipt of your self-assessment. This email will contain a link that will take you back to your status page. You can go to this webpage to enter your observer’s email addresses and to check the status of their input as well as send reminders.

Step 2. Identify 6 People to Complete Observer Input for You

You need a minimum of four people to complete observer input for you in order to be able to receive a complete report; six observers will create the best report. Click on the link “Ask Others for Feedback”.

  • Enter email addresses for 6 people who will serve as your observers. (Please double check the email addresses for accuracy)
  • An automatic e-mail will be sent to your observers giving the details of what they need to do. (If they do not receive this email, please ask them to check their spam folders for a message from Admin@belbin.com.) Each observer slot creates a unique link and can only be used by 1 observer. Please do not change observer email addresses after they have been submitted.

What makes a good observer?

  • Your observers should be familiar with your work.
  • They should have worked with you for at least three (3) months.
  • A good mix of people also helps; choose a boss, a peer, people who have reported to you.
  • Avoid having family members and other intimate friends as feedback givers.

The “Ask Others for Feedback” page gives you an option to include a personal message explaining why you are requesting feedback. Below is some sample text you may want to use:

Dear Colleagues – Can you please give me some feedback? As part of a course I am taking, I am taking the Belbin Team Roles Assessment. Would you please help me out by completing the following brief survey about your experience working with me? Your feedback will be anonymous and will help me understand how I can be a more effective team member. Please provide your feedback by [INSERT DATE]. Thank you!

NOTE: FOLLOWING THE DEADLINE YOUR REPORTS WILL BE GENERATED AND SENT BY EMAIL. IF ALL 6 OBSERVERS DO NOT PROVIDE THEIR INPUT, YOU WILL NEED TO GO BACK TO YOUR FIRST LINK RECEIVED AND CLICK ON THE BOX UNDER THE REPORT COLUMN TO OPEN A PDF OF YOUR REPORT.
